The Dazzled One, 2014

A series of encounters with what remains partly beyond our grasp. Moving between scales, the work explores the point at which perception becomes interpretation, and the observed world begins to acquire meanings that may not be there.

Night sky: pale cirrus clouds streak diagonally across an almost black ground.
A seabird, wings spread, flies low over very dark water.
Starry sky: points and short light trails, the crown of a tree silhouetted at the bottom of the frame.
A soap bubble suspended in front of a lit bank of cloud, against a black sky.
Wooded ridges fading one behind the other into mist and falling snow.
Four white wolves in a wooded enclosure, two of them turned toward the lens.
Far off, a person seen from behind walks away into the forest, at the foot of an almost black mass of trees.
A white owl perched in dark undergrowth, the only bright surface in the frame.
Underwater: a body moving away among bubbles, beneath a light-shot surface.
Close-up of a porous spherical surface covered in droplets that catch the light.
A motionless lizard between two stones, the eye alone sharply lit.
